Meet the Expert: William M. Dutton, CPA, CFE
Bill is a graduate of John Carroll University, where he received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1992. Later that year, he passed the CPA Exam on his first attempt. He received his certification after satisfying the two-year experience requirement in 1994.
In 1992, Bill began his career with a regional accounting firm based in the Cleveland area. Bill was with that firm for seven years during which he grew through the ranks, eventually attaining the level of Senior Manager. His experience included significant accounting, auditing, tax, and other business advisory services. He has a wide range of industry experience including manufacturing, distribution, advertising, and service organizations as well as not-for-profit organizations. His focus continues to be providing top-level accounting, tax and consulting services to closely-held companies.
In late 2004, Bill became a Certified Fraud Examiner having passed the exam on his first attempt while having previously met the experience requirements. In conjunction with this, Bill has worked to help expand the firm’s role in fraud and forensic accounting as well as augment the firm’s efforts with regards to Sarbanes-Oxley and litigation and bankruptcy support services.
Bill is a member of the Leadership Cleveland Class of 2015. He is a past board member of the Hitchcock Center for Women, a charitable organization providing services to women and children of the community who are recovering from alcoholism and other addictions. He and his wife are active volunteers/parents at St. Columbkille School in Parma, Ohio ad Lawrence School in Broadview Heights, Ohio. They donate their time during the holidays at St. Augustine’s Church delivering meals. Bill is also a member of the AICPA, OSCPA, and ACFE.
